Fogg Street Club played host to a night of soul-soaked blues on August 12th, featuring a jam session led by Devon Allman and his nine-piece band. But before Allman took the stage, the evening kicked off with a performance from Milwaukee native and guitar master Greg Koch.
Armed with just a drummer and his six-string, Koch delivered a tight, soulful set that immediately pulled the crowd in.
Performing as the sun dipped behind the Nashville skyline, he showcased selections from his recent release “Blues,” blending upbeat grooves with technical prowess and heartfelt playing.
His 30-minute set served as the perfect warm-up for the night ahead.
As the lights dimmed and anticipation grew, Devon Allman and his ensemble launched into their set, celebrating the release of Allman’s latest album The Blues Summit.
The 10-track record, clocking in at 45 minutes, bridges the gap between old-school blues traditions and modern sonic textures. A must-listen for both longtime blues fans and new listeners alike.
From the first notes, the audience was on their feet, swaying to the rhythm and soaking in the energy.
Allman’s touring band is a supergroup in its own right, featuring John Ginty (keys), Sierra Green (vocals), Nathan Graham (bass), Larry McCray (guitar), John Lum (drums), Jimmy Hall (vocals/harmonica), Jackson Stokes (guitar), David Cultura (saxophone), and Allman himself on guitar and vocals.
Sierra Green lit up the stage with a powerhouse performance of “Real Love,” her voice dripping with soul and charisma.
Meanwhile, Larry McCray delivered a show-stealing moment during “Gettin’ Greasy with It,” his guitar work drawing audible gasps from the crowd.
Throughout the night, Allman’s deep love and reverence for blues music was on full display. Through heartfelt lyrics or extended instrumental jams, the entire audience was locked in.
The set was a dynamic blend of groove, grit, and soul, offering a full-spectrum blues experience.
The band continues its tour along the East Coast before heading out West later this month.
